LIGHTING SCULPTURE PHOENIX, TO BE UNVEILED DECEMBER 20, 2024

The lighting sculpture Phoenix in progress, planned to be unveiled on December 20,  2024. Located in the heart of Kulturhavna, the new area in Ålesund, as a central symbol for the city. Thematically, the lighting sculpture takes up Ålesund's history from the Viking town recently excavated in Borgundgavlen to the historic town fire in 1904 which erased the wooden buildings and left the town in ashes. Like a Phoenix Bird known from mythology, the new Jugend town rose in stone from the ashes, and became unique in a European context. The lighting sculpture Phoenix is intended to be the sculptural bonfire where people meet physically and share their stories.
