Art Education
I present here a summary from my research upon colour and light, through a selection of teaching programs I developed at different institutions and for various target groups. Interdisciplinarity and interactivity have been a starting point. For the Norwegian Lighting Institute , I have led a program with a series of lectures and workshops as part of the education of lighting consultants, based on my books published by Gyldendal publishing house and Fagbokforlaget. The course was interdisciplinary, with participation from various professions such as architects, interior designers, landscape planners, teachers, engineers, lighting designers and others. Through several periods at the Oslo Academy of the Arts, including the Faculty of Design, Department of Furniture and Interior, Clothing and Costumes and the Faculty of Performing Arts, Department of Scenography, I have developed a number of teaching programs with progression. By creating a prototype for a three-dimensional model produced by the Academy's workshop, students could experiment with textures, surfaces, different materials, according to a principle where cardboard discs or other materials could be pushed out and into slots, to create different types of spaces and compositions. Both here and at the Nordic Institute for Stage and Studio (NISS, today Westerdals), the sketches and models were further developed in full scale, and presented in black box. Room concepts, various tableaux and other types of interiors and scenes were created, at the intersection of visual art, installation and performance. The results were presented exhibitions and other events for the public, and filmed for documentation. I also presented some of these processes through lectures, for example at the Northern Norwegian Conference, Narvik or the international Nordic Lighting Conference in Oslo.
Jeg presenterer her et resymé fra min forskning om farge og lys, gjennom et utvalg av undervisningsopplegg som jeg har utviklet ved ulike institusjoner og for forskjellige målgrupper. Tverrfaglighet og interaktivitet har vært et utgangspunkt. For Lyskultur har jeg i en årrekke ledet et program med serie foredrag og workshop som del av utdanning av lyskonsulenter, basert på bøkene mine utgitt av Gyldendal forlag og Fagbokforlaget. Kurset var tverrfaglig, med deltagelse fra ulike profesjoner som arkitekter, interiørarkitekter, landskapsplanleggere, lærere, ingeniører, lysdesignere og andre. Gjennom flere perioder ved Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, blant annet ved fakultet for Design, avdeling Møbel og Interiør, Klær og kostymer og Fakultet for utøvende kunst, avdeling Scenografi, har jeg utviklet en rekke undervisningopplegg med progresjon. Ved å skape en prototype for tredimensjonal modell produsert av akademiets verksted, kunne studentene eksperimentere med teksturer, overflater, ulike materialer, etter et prinsipp hvor pappskiver eller andre materialer kunne skyves ut og inn i slisser, for å lage ulike typer rom og komposisjoner. Både her og ved Nordisk Institutt for Scene og Studio (NISS, i dag Westerdals), ble skissene og modellene videreutviklet i full skala, blant annet i blackboks. Det ble skapt romkonsepter, ulike tablåer og andre typer interiører og scener, i skjæringspunkt mellom billedkunst, installasjon og performance. Resultatene ble presentert gjennom oppvisninger, utstillinger og filmet for dokumentasjon. Jeg presenterte min forskning også gjennom foredrag, eksempelvis på Nordnorsk Opplevelseskonferanse, Narvik eller den internasjonale Nordic Lighting Conference i Oslo.
