A selection of works from various series from the period between 1987 and 1996, the latest from the series «Cycle».
Here is an excerpt from essay written for the exhibition catalog «Cycle», by art historian Jarle Strømodden: "A canvas showing a drop-shape. It is difficult to say wether this shape is big or small; wether it is signifying micro- or macrocosmos.We are confronting a painting where the linear perspective is absent. Rather, in cases like this, the paintings possess stratas inviting the spectator`s gaze far beyond the surface.
The paintings contrast with each other, as there are contrasts within them. It is of importance to Yttredal making this happen, as it is a way of presenting certain problems of her interest.
In Calina Pandele Yttredals paintings there is a constant movement between oppositions; close vs. distant; microcosm vs. macrocosm; faith vs. reason. Natur vs. culture. She poses the questions and we must act.»

"En dråpeform fyller hele lerrettet. Vi kan ikke riktig avgjøre om det er noe stort eller lite, om den illustrer en mikro- eller makrokosmos. Vi står overfor en komposisjon hvor det klassiske sentralperspektivet er fraværende. Snarere er dette bilder med sjiktrom som nærmest inviterer betrakteren inn og bakenfor formen.
Det er kontraster i bildene. Men kontraster finnes også i bildene seg imellom. Det er viktig for Calina Pandele Yttredal å sette ting mot hverandre fordi det er slik problemstillinger trer frem.
Det univers Calina Pandele Yttredal skaper i sine bilder peker hen mot polære og eviggyldige størrelser - mellom det nære og det fjerne ; mikrokosmos og makrokosmos. Natur og kultur. Det viktigste er spørsmålene Yttredal stiller gjennom sine bilder og som vi må forholde oss til."
