Tranøy Artpark
The lighting sculpture “Wind – Eye” is located on a vantage point at the historic Loshytta on Tranøy, Nordland, in a 2 km straight line opposite Tranøy Lighthouse. With a view to the sea and a backdrop of pointed Lofoten mountains, it was unveiled in August 2014, on the occasion of the anniversary «Tranøy Lighthouse 150 years", commissioned by Kunstpark Tranøy. The title of the work is inspired by the Norse word for "window" (vindauge). The compact glass sphere which I produced at Hadeland Glassverk was meant like an eye towards the world, which captures and reflects the changing light and landscape of Tranøy. It is also illuminated from below by light sources which I programmed to change in numerous color shades related to those in nature. Towards evening and in the dark, the glass ball glows in changing shades of white and colours, like a celestial body. It also spreads its light towards the laser sculpture above, where the filigree-like friezes tell stories of the place. In the pyramid at the top, the light is captured and swirled like the northern lights, which is making the lighting sculpture visible from a long distance, also from the sea side. On the actual unveiling day when the night descended, the spectators could experience nature`s northern lights pulsating together with the lighting sculpture. “Wind-Eye” has become a landmark on Tranøy, also known for the place where the writer Knut Hamsun grew up. Suppliers for materialias and LED light have been Plexon and Osram.
Lysskulpturen “Wind – Eye” er plassert på et utsiktspunkt ved historiske Loshytta på Tranøy, Nordland, i en 2 km rett linje overfor Tranøy fyr. Med utsikt over havet og et bakteppe av spisse Lofotenfjell ble den avduket i august 2014, i anledning jubileet "Tranøy fyr 150 år", bestilt av Kunstpark Tranøy. Tittelen på verket er inspirert av det norrøne ordet for "vindu" (vindauge). Den kompakte glasskulen som jeg produserte på Hadeland Glassverk er som et øyemot verden som fanger inn og reflekterer det skiftende lyset og landskapet på Tranøy. Det er også belyst nedenfra av lyskilder som jeg programmerte til å skifte i mange fargenyanser relatert til de i naturen. Mot kvelden og ved mørkets frembrudd lyser glasskulen i skiftende nyanser av hvitt og farger, som et himmellegeme. Den sprer lyset også mot laserskulpturen over, der de filigranlignende friser forteller historier om stedet. I pyramiden øverst blir lyset fanget opp og virvlet lik nordlyset, et uttrykk som er med på å synliggjøre lysskulpturen på lang avstand, også fra sjøsiden. På selve avdukingsdagen da natten senket seg, kunne tilskuerne oppleve nayurens nordlys som pulserte sammen med lysskulpturens. “Wind-Eye” er blitt et symbol for stedet, et landemerke på Tranøy, også kjent for stedet hvor Knut Hamsun vokste opp. Leverandører for materialer og LED lys har vært Plexon og Osram.
